There are three types of Membership:
Registered Member: Registered membership is for people who have bees. The fee includes membership of the British Beekeeping Association (BBKA), the Dorset County Beekeeping Association, and Bee Disease Insurance. The BBKA membership carries with it third party insurance for beekeeping activities. Because of the Disease Insurance element, the basic total annual fee of £35 increases if you have more than 3 hives. The document below explains the fee scale.
Partner Member: Partner membership applies to the partners of Registered Members who are themselves involved in beekeeping activities. They become BBKA members, but at the reduced rate of £12.50.
Associate Members: Associate membership is for anyone who is interested in beekeeping and wishing to learn more, but who does not have bees themselves. It entitles you to attend all BSBKA functions, lectures and visits. The current annual fee is £13, but it is included free for a year for everyone on the Beginners Course.
In year upgrades: Associate members who acquire bees during the year will need to upgrade to Registered membership. The cost of upgrading depends on when the change happens as shown in the document below.
For more information on membership, please either use the contact page or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Note that it is a condition of membership that you agree to the BSBKA Privacy Statement (below). You should also be aware that the BSBKA is managed mainly by email and that you will miss out on important beekeeping alerts and information and event details unless you agree to be on our email dustribution list.
